De Mulieribus Claris
Author: Giovanni Boccaccio
Ref No: Med. MS G.133
Date Added: 1894
Date Created: 1464
De Mulieribus Claris was written by Boccaccio in 1361. It tells the stories of lives of famous women, from Eve to Joan, queen of Naples. This manuscript was written in Latin in northern Germany and is dated 1464. At the end of the text there is an index, followed by a draft marriage agreement (shown here) written in German concerning the daughter of Lorenz Stranche and a dowry of sheep, money etc. Perhaps this manuscript was a wedding present.
